All About the Threes Class

Our three-year-old classes have eight children with one teacher. More independent, three-year-olds eagerly soak up knowledge around them and do best when they feel safe and secure and are provided hands on experiences. Listening and following directions are a main goal we set for our three’s so that they will have success in Pre-K. Social skills include learning self-control and consequences. We encourage our students to become of aware of their feelings and those of their friends. We introduce the concept of respect and how to appropriately respond to the big emotions they may have as they struggle through these maturing years. Our Brightwheel App makes it easy for our teachers to communicate with parents throughout the day and vice versa. It’s a great tool that keeps you aware of how your child’s day is going.

Academics for our three’s include letter and sound recognition, name recognition plus learning how to trace/write, counting and number recognition, shapes, and colors.

All About the
Pre-Kindergarten Class

Our main goal for our Pre-K class is to develop a love of learning and to prepare them for elementary. We work closely with GVISD and help teach both academic and social skills that students will need for a successful Kindergarten year. Children are introduced to Learning Centers which are daily activities designed to reinforce academic and social skills. Learning Centers may include: Reading/Writing, Blocks, Free Arts/Crafts, Math/Manipulatives, and Dramatic Play. During Center Time children are encouraged to use their imagination and creativity, as well as to communicate and problem solve with their peers.

GVISD teachers consistently tell us they love it when children come to Kindergarten and know how to do the following: sit quietly, follow directions, walk in a line, put their backpacks, lunch boxes and folders away, open and eat their lunch, and are able to go to the restroom without help. We encourage our Pre-K students to be independent and do all they can on their own. We teach the importance of good listening skills, how to follow directions, and how to show teachers and friends respect. Our Pre-K students are urged to make their own decisions and accept any consequences of those decisions. Our Brightwheel App makes it easy for our teachers to communicate with parents and vice versa. It’s a great tool that keeps you aware of how your child’s day is going.

Academics for our Pre-K class includes letter and sound recognition, name recognition, writing their name correctly using a capital first letter and all other lowercase letters, counting, writing and number recognition, shapes, and colors.

Chapel Time

The Three-year-old's and Pre-K go to chapel weekly where they sing and dance to bible songs, hear a short bible story and watch a 3-minute DVD on that same story. We then discuss and go over a bible verse. Our main focus is for them to know that Jesus loves everyone, wants us to share His love and message to all, and how easy it is to pray and talk to God.
